Carl Paraskevas has over twenty years' experience in finance and banking, primarily in research related roles at several institutions. Prior to joining Varianse in 2021, he was an Emerging Markets FX trader and Senior Markets Economist at Lloyds Bank covering foreign exchange and commodity markets for over a decade. He has held similar roles at FleetBoston, Merrill Lynch, and Barclays Capital.

During his time at Lloyds he advised financial institutions, corporates, and high net worth individuals. Twice ranked as a top oil forecaster by Bloomberg and FocusEconomics, respectively, Carl's primary area of research focus has been on forecasting and predictive modelling. He has held similar roles at FleetBoston, Merrill Lynch, and Barclays Capital.

Carl holds a bachelors degree in Economics from the Central Connecticut State University and a MSc in International Finance from Cass Business School in London. More recently, he has pursued advanced studies in Data Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, he holds several awards from the International Monetary Fund in financial market analysis and macroeconomic forecasting.
